Buyers Get Screwed Too

PayPal closes disputes after 20 days unless the buyer escalates to a claim. In my case, I was working with the seller to get this resolved. The seller seemed to be sincere and I let the dispute closed. As soon as it closed, the seller became unresponsive and unhelpful.

As the purchase involved international shipping, paypal's limit of 20 days before closing the dispute can be unrealistic, as it may take this long for a product to reach the purchaser, or, in my case, where the goods were returned to sender (because the sender had not put the complete address on the package), it can take months for these goods to be returned. In the meantime, Paypal closes the dispute and then will not let it be reopened, even if it wasn't escalated in the first instance, leaving the purchaser high and dry.
