Angry Paypal won't credit my credit card for fraud seller

I used paypal knowing that I will be protected, but I tried to explained to them that the packages was so small that the merchandise I bought could not fit in the small envelop package, yet they said they are not responsible because it was not purchased from eba, but I asked them if I would be protected via the telephone and they said yes if the item was not received nor received something different that what I paid for. Now, I am in the mercy of my credit card company.

Anybody know what should I do? Please help.

    Default Reclaiming money from Paypal

    Hi,

The key difference between Paypal (and many similar companies) and any UK bank is that banks must adhere to certain financial regulations governing how they handle money (including credit/debit card transactions) as well as how they deal with any disputes, including the freezing of accounts, etc.

Because Paypal is not a registered bank it is not subject to many of these regulations (only UK money laundering rules apply).

If you spend 100 or via a credit card and fail to receive the goods you have redress against both the company who supplied the goods and also againt the credit card provider who is deemed equally liable in UK law.

However, if you opt to use Paypal instead then you have no redress, and are simply subject to Paypal's own in-house rules and regulations.

Paypal can equally freeze you account on a whim and dip into your bank account without notifying you (it is in their rules).

And unlike a bank you cannot complaim to the Financial Services Authority when they do the above as Paypal aren't regulated by them since they are not classified as a bank.

Don't confuse Paypal with a UK bank. They operate under entirely different rules and regulations.

    Cheers,

    Pete
