    Default Under 18 usage

Hey, so when I was younger I made a PayPal account for casual buying (and naturally didn't read the small print).

Recently I have used it to sell products and have hit the 1,900 limit. I have been asked to answer xxx security checks which I don't know the answer to my DOB one. When PayPal freeze my account for being under 18 will I be able to withdraw my funds? Or will I be able to withdraw them when I get to 18? (I am 16).

    Any help is appreciated.

Also my most recent transaction was a gift payment by a friend who owed me money, can he refund that himself by saying he didn't authorize it etc?

    Thanks.

Hmm, I'm not sure how Paypal will deal with this if they find out you're not 18. I'm guessing your account will be limited though if you don't send them the information they're looking for.

PP clearly said that they don't allow underage people. If they find out, all they can do is close your account.

Personally. I would let it go.

For you to have a Paypal account at 16 means that you used fake information, because Paypal will not allow a minor to open an account.

That is basically fraud. They could file charges against you if they wanted. I suggest you let it go. Let them close the account, and cut your loses. This situation could go bad really fast.

That is quite against the policies of PayPal. I think they will limit it for a while and then in future if you provide the information that they need they might just release your funds.

I think that violates TOS but you can try to send them documents.

I think they will close your account when they find that you are under age. They will just eat up any balance remaining in the account. I don't think they will hold your funds till you turn 18. They simply don't have the responsibility to do so. I think it is better for you to let it go.

I met a kid once at the post office who had an eBay business and accepted Paypal payments without any legal problems.

How did he do this? His parents were his partners.
It was the kid's business but his parents had their names on the Paypal account and even drove him to the post office to mail his merchandise.

I don't understand why minors open Paypal accounts, knowing that they could lose all the money, when they could just go to their parents for help.

Right, I think it's most likely that they'll lock the account for a while until OP is over 18 and presents documents proving that they are 18.

You need to be thankful that PP only closed your account. It could have done a lot more, since it's illegal to have an account if you're under 18.
