    Default Held Refund

I recently had to order a part for my car and made a payment via PayPal. However, PayPal wouldn't let me change the shipping address from my address that my bank account is registered to and the part company insisted that the shipping address had to be included with the payment.

So when I paid PayPal immediately took the money from my bank account and paid the seller. When the address issue came up the seller immediately refunded the payment, so I could order another way. This all happened in the space of around 10-minutes. However, I didn't get my money back immediately. First it was held for 'review', which took four days. Then after four days it was credited to my PayPal account, so I then had to transfer it to my bank account - another 3 days.

I had to order the part so paid a different way. So at this point I'm out the cost of the part X2, using money I needed to pay the mechanic the install the part. I was so annoyed. How can they take the money immediately and take a week to get it back to you?

It must have been seen as suspicious that the refund came right back. At least you got your refund and even though the delay created an inconvenience, you got your money back,

I agree. I guess they were just checking to make sure nothing suspicious was going on with your account for example someone trying to hack into it to pay for something. At least you got the money back although it's annoying having to wait that long.

They are simply a bad service, you dont need a week to chck all these things and its bad for the customer. Bad business policy in payPal I am afraid.

I have to agree with the other posters. The short time frame in which it all happened is what triggered an action from Paypal. Understandable. But it boggles my mind as to why they need a few more days to solve the issue. Are they having a vast amount of issues to process or are they simply bad at handling such situations? Don't they have templates to use for issues that are similar with other issues handled in the past?

I think they review the circumstances of the transaction first before they refund your money to check if there was any fraudulent element to it, that's why they took a long time to refund your money. But don't dwell on that anymore, at least you got your money back.
