My daughter helped me set up my paypal account so I can try to sell some of the art that I make. After reading all the paypal horror stories that are out there I guess I should have seen this one coming. Paypal is holding my funds ($78) and are now asking for me to provide a lot of documentation (copy of DL, utility bill, invoices etc) , some which I don't have, in order to release my funds. I don't even know why my account was frozen, they will not tell me. This is all very exasperating to me.

There are sooo many reasons as to why Paypal would limit your account. It is just impossible to know them all and the crazy part is that they will not tell you why your account has been limited. Once your account in limited there is less then a 10% chance of getting our account unlimited. Scary stuff.

I have been lucky enough to not have problems YET, but as I read more and more of the posts I am getting more and more concerned. I am nervous and am thinking it might be best to get out BEFORE I have a paypal horror story of my own to share! Good luck with getting your money back.

True, true. Man thats a lot of money to have frozen and it totally sucks but at least that story will not be repeated. I have had my merchant account with National Merchant Bancard now going on three months and am totally stoked. No more headaches or hassles and that is a very good thing!

For most people, a full on merchant account is overkill because the volume of transactions that the average hobbyist eBay seller does is so low that it doesn't make sense to make the effort to move off PayPal until you are forced off PayPal.
In Myglasart's case, a Merchant account might be the best way to go, but I don't think anyone can judge that with how little info he has posted.
