Default Pay It Forward...NOT if PayPal can STOP it

I’ve turned here because I am so upset. I googled PayPal money seized and this Pay Pal Sucks forum grabbed my attention. After hours of reading stories from many of you just as bamboozled as me, I thought I’d share my own story of complete frustration.

I sell on ebay using Pay Pal of course. I give my PayPal earnings to support wounded vets and their families in my area. I do this because my husband is retired military and we came across many kind people that were very good to us throughout his career. This is something I do to “pay it forward” if you will. I’m doing this in order to make a positive difference, however small it may be, to the families of wounded vets.

However, next thing I know my account has been placed on hold and my money seized. I also received a very vague email telling me that “others” do the same thing. What?! I called them and after working through the horrendous system they call a telephone customer service line I was told that my money had been seized because I had a low balance in my bank account. What?! Why does that matter? I just don’t understand and I am so upset! I hate to give up my efforts to pay it forward but PayPal doesn’t want to make it easy to do right or lend a helping hand to those less fortunate. PayPal has no reason to seize my money….thankfully it was only $187 because many of you are out MUCH MORE which makes me sick, but that money could have been Christmas gifts / dinner for a family. I refuse to lose hope but in the meantime I do need a way to continue doing something for others.

Unbelievable!!

And it saddens me to say you are not the only one trying to do good that has ended up being screwed by paypal. Just look at what the did to Regretsy, shut them down as they were collecting donations for children's Christmas gifts. Then made them refund all the donations they had received but paypal still collected their processing fees.

Paypal does not need a valid reason to hold or seize your funds. In their terms of service it states that they can do so for ANY reason.

As an man of the Army I would like to thank you and your husband for all the good you have done. It is so refreshing to see unselfish people in this day and age.

HI DaytonDolly,

National merchant bancard has a great deal for signing up with a merchant account (go to their website merchantinc.com). I am currently processing my payments with them and I have had a very pleasurably experience with the. You may what to check them out to see if it is something that would work for you.

I agree with pie, a merchant account is a good way to go, some of them are sky high but there are lots who are fair priced and you have peace of mind when trying to make a living.
