Default Some merchant account questions.

Paypal is turning out to be not what I expected. I wanted something fast and easy (as they promise) but it has just been to many problems for something that should be so simple.

After reading in this forum I've become interested in a merchant acccount but have some questions about that. Do I need a business checking account or business license? I've got neither and are not planing on getting it either.
Will I be able to process payments on my cellular phone? What if I have less than perfect credit? It is not bad just not where I wish it would be.

Any insight would be greatly accepted.

my hubby and i went w merchant services and couldnt be happier. You dont need a business checking account if the business is in your name, you can process through somthing they call a gateway which is online so if you have internet on your phone your all set, as far as credit ours is n-a-s-t-y and we still got approved, we had to provide certain docs about our little start up biz but overall it was painless enough.

Sorry about your paypal experience. Paypal ended up driving me away with all the constant problems they were throwing at me and refused to help with.
I got a merchant account signing up with my name as my business name and then listed my business type as Sole Proprietorship and then just used my SSN instead of a tax ID or EIN.

Most merchant accounts some with a monthly fee raging from the lowest I have seen being 8 bucks to my bank wanting to charge me $55 so that is something to consider being that paypal is free (monthly fee is $0, processing charges are sky high) which is the only thing paypal has going for them.

Ain't nothin in life free...always read the fine print. And Paypal can talk up the "we're free" all they want...in the end they get exactly what they want.

Best bet is to pay for what you want and a service that will actually provide service.
