Default I'm stuck with a PayPal balance I can't spend.

I sometimes do online surveys to make a few extra bucks. The website I use allows various methods of cashing out, including Amazon and PayPal money. Well, I signed up for PayPal, and ordered $10.00 in PayPal money from the survey company, as there is an inexpensive Ebay purchase I want to make. I got it the PayPal money, but I can't spend it. I found out, too late, that PayPal won't let you spend your money unless you give them your credit card or bank account information. I don't have either, as I always prefer to deal with cash and money order. I also can't get a refund without "validating my adress" by giving them credit card or bank account information. The only other alternative to validate the account is to sign up for the "PayPal Extras Mastercard". I tried to, but to sign up for it, you have to give your Social Security number, which I am not willing to do.

So what can I do? I would like to somehow exchange my $10.00 PayPal balance for an Ebay gift certificate, but it doesn't appear that there is any way to. What can I do? Is the money just lost forever?

Unless you can validate whom you are, yes you will not be able to access those funds. Again, this situation raises HUGE amounts of flags. It my experience only dishonest people do not want to provide honest answers.

What do you mean that it raises huge amounts of flags?

Amazon didn't make me give them any of that kind of information when I used an Amazon gift card. Why does PayPal? I don't have a credit card account, nor a bank or checking account. I don't trust banks. And I don't trust PayPal, either. Any company that asks for credit card or bank account information is very shady, in my opinion.

Default Unable to access my Paypal balance

I also cannot access my paypal balance! It asks me what the two sums of money were I put into another account when I registered to paypal 10 years ago, to which I have no idea. I have been into my bank to find out the answer to this question, and they don't even know!!!
So I'm left with a Paypal account that I cannot access...fuming!!

Well you just answered your own question, you said an 'Amazon Gift card' the only 'gift' type cards at all with Paypal is that Moneypak/greendot. The reason for those types of information is asked by Paypal is because there are times when paypal actually will 'front' money to a seller so of course no one wants to foot the bill. You'd be amazed at the amount of people that have negative accounts which is on PayPal's tab. They ask for those things to avoid paying out of pocket for people out to screw others is all.

Also to the person talking about 'two deposits' is confused. PayPal would be refering to the 2 deposits they made into your bank account to verify that account as valid o.0

If people only knew the millions in losses that PayPal takes due to their generous nature, though I can get any ones natural concern. That and the majority has no idea how many merchants use PayPal as a payment processor, you go through them even when you don't have an account.

They are the middle man between the consumer and the merchant.

because I dont want paypal to have my credit card or bank account that means your scamming people??? Do you like giving your financial details out everywhere you go?? Personally I dont. Thats called being safe, not committing fraud. I highly doubt that this person is scamming for $10. And no I dont think $10 from a survey site is different then a gift card.If they were going to commit fraud why the hell would they do it for $10???...

I guess its good Im in Canada and I can use paypal without adding bank account or credit card.

But I guess I must be scamming everyone apparently LOL......... thats why my ebay account has 100% feedback. You people should rethink that.

I find your blanket assumption about the honesty of people not wanting to blindly and stupidly share personal info to be ignorant and condescending. I have a HUGE amount of reasons as to why I don't and will not share much of my personal information online, especially an SSN. Only an idiot goes around giving out such info like candy. I've had a bank account cleaned out by hackers through Bank of UnAmerica's system being compromised and they left me out to dry, therefore, I prefer not to use banks anymore and I use work arounds to fool PP if I have to. For 2 years I used a PP debit card linked to my account, despite not having a bank account with them. If I can get away with it, then screw them. That doesn't have a damn thing to do with my honesty just because I don't want to give up sensitive info to some damn online company that has a horrible record and is not a real bank, and which does not protect me even nearly as well as some of the worst banks do! In my experience, fools are the ones who just freely share personal info.
