Default Accused of fraud - but it wasn't my fault!

I have a problem with PayPal that doesn't seem to be unique, however, it doesn't involve them freezing my funds. They did limit my account, but I got all my money back, so small claims court seems not to be appropriate. The issue is that I cannot use PayPal now because I was wrongly accused of engaging in fraudulent activity. It's a long story, but I basically added an E-mail address to my account that was then used for fraudulent activity, but I HAD NO IDEA IT WAS HAPPENING. Of course, PayPal didn't listen to me and gave me no chance to defend myself or offer evidence contrary to what they were accusing me of.

I'm wondering if there's any hope of getting my PayPal account back to normal. I was doing lots of freelance writing, and now my freelance writing career is basically very limited because I cannot accept PayPal - this is the most used, most popular way of getting paid online for doing freelance writing (I'm sure you're aware). Basically, PayPal has screwed me by limiting my chances of performing my livelihood, one of the things that helps me pay the bills.

I've consulted a lawyer, but am waiting to hear back from him. In our brief conversation, however, he didn't seem to think there would be much for a lawyer to do.

I hope to hear from you all about my options.

There is not much you can do to get your account back. In their policies, they stated they have the right to terminate their relationship with you at any point.

What you can do however is open a new account to start accepting payments. You do need to use completely different details then what is listed on your limited account.

Going with variations of your previous details will work, but not enough to the point where it is still obvious.
