Hello Forum.

Here is my Fifty pounds worth!...

I openly admit that my spelling is not good, and that I am indeed trying to work on this, but if you can put that problem aside for a moment and read my post, maybe you will find that you also share similar views to me, or have the same opinion about this thread as I do?

I have heard the mp3 recording and read through this thread up untill now, but quite frankly, the whole thing is becoming quite tiresome now.

It should be obvious to all what happened at this stage...

1 - The paltalk user was doing something that he really should not have been doing. "Donation", "Sponcer", "Payment", call it what ever you like, its still classed as recieiving payment for adult material, whether it be "Adult Dating" or "Adult Pornography" Adult means ADULT, and when you agree to any terms and conditions that bind you NOT to include any ADULT content, (or sell any such thing) then you dont do it!

2 - The user realised that he had been rumbled by Paypal as soon as his account was frozen, and he could have chosen to of kept his mouth shut and go lick his wounds, but instead, he calls paypal up? Why? You ahve to remeber one thing... sometimes, in trying to prove others wrong or justify our own wrong doings and mistakes, WE reveal more about ourselfs and our intentions in the process... the real truth can be reavealed by our own mouths (and sometimes unknowingly), especialy if we lose our temper, and thus, our ability to be rational.

3 - It is now obvious at this stage, that what started out as a "phone call to paltalk" has now become a big rant on this forum! I mean, just take a look at the size of this thread, will you? And it always seems to follow the same pattern on the internet regarding negativity...

It goes something like this...

1. User posts unfortunate cercumstances in forum thread (be it right or wrong)

2. Like attacts like, as other people with doubt in their minds floct to the forum and join the thread

3. people (regardless of whether or not they did anything wrong) soon become irritated in their persuit to find some sort of an answer to the very question that brought them to this forum in the first place "CAN I TRUST PAYPAL?"

4. The irritation soon matures into anger as all the lovers of "Negative Drama" flock to the forum to feed on the abundence of negative comments and drama that has amased (and if you dont belive that this is that case, ask yourself WHY so many people watch programs like Big Brother and Soap... Its DRAMA, isnt it?... Needless to say it is all gravey to them, and they will quite happily come on here and lap it up with emence hunger it would seem.

5. Anger (which is often caused when someone misinterprets any of the given 300+ posts as "being directed to them personaly"), begins when the person who wrongly thought this speaks back in a form of counter attack... I even obsereved someone in this thread grab a picture from one posters thread and the slap it onto this message board with the comment of, "Hey, is this you?" My point being, SO WHAT IF IT IS HIM? Does one have to pull down a person and pick at how they look, just because THEY took something personaly?

5. Can you see were this is going yet?

And by the 300th post, the thread has driffted from sensible discussion to outright speculation, purly because people are finding it increasingly harder to make head or tails out of the ever growing speculations and theories being added by those joining the thread (because of the "racket" that it is making lol).

Finaly, you have to smile at this whole thing a little dont you? I mean its not funny that somebody is doing something illigale and neither do I agree to anything of such a nature... but the internet (to me) just seems to me like a place where discussion constantly seems to get hand. It gets over the top and over heated and in the end, people are just at each others throats (except for those who are rational amongst us, of course... we dont alow ourselves to become irritated do we?)

Now then, having said that, lets all phone up paltalk and ask them the following...

"If I conduct my business in a clean and honest way, will any harm come to it?"

Dont run pornography sites, sell dirty DVDs, sell drugs and medications to make... umm... "Mr Martens Male Member Much More Massive!". Keep away from suspect listings, dont sell dodjy items, and just.... well... generaly provide a good quality service and send the customer (in good time) what they have paid for? Will my business not survive?

And lets face it, a few kicks, knocks, negative feedbacks and losses are not the end of the world are they? You just put the buyer on your blocked list and move on. (you can also adjuct your selling perferences on ebay too)

Dont waist your time getting into a fight with somebody who is corrupt/immorel in the first place. Sure, you can talk to them untill you are blue in the face, but you'll never make them into a better person, so long as they, themselves, refuse to be?

Amen! :-D ~grin~

spec,"The whole point of the hold on funds is to insure that any customer who requests a reversal during this period can do without worrying about you getting pissed off and closing the account that paypal is linked to. I have been screwed by a buyer who did just that and this is a protection for BUYERS. The policies are not based on a person to person bases, these policies apply to everyone. A frozen account for fraud is the same as a frozen account for violation of terms of services."
___________________________________________________________________________________________________
Did you and all who agree pp is wrong but still can do as they please listen to his entire call? They were also making him jump thru hoops to refund the his buyers money! not a protection I want if I were the purchaser!!Also anyone who takes up for their crazy and drop of a hat acct. limitation "SCANDLE" that take forever to be removed that only takes a simple click of a button has never been a screwed over & over even when its a "mistake" on their part!

I think w/ the frustration that pp causes all to often He handled himself perfectly on the phone. I also do not think his intention was to impress anyone on the other end of the phone w/ kindness!

I would BET THEY NEVER THOUGHT THIS SITE WOULD EVEN BE CREATED NOT TO MENTION BECOME AS INFORMATIVE AND WELL KNOWN AS IT IS! GOOD JOB Perkel!!

You can sue them on your own.
I opted out of the last class action.
So that if anything came up later.
I would have legal recourse.

You guys think if we can file another class-action lawsuit?

I missed out on the first one. I hope we have grounds to file another case

A rolling reserve is "reasonable". However PaynPal goes beyond unconscionable reason, by freezing the ENTIRE account not just a reserve of what is in question. They have frozen $12,000 of mine. My life's savings so far. I thought the freezing feature in the user agreement was just for the bad guys. I was wrong and now I am poor.

mperkel,

Wonderful! My husband and I are listening to this now and I recognize the same condescention in the tone and the superior I-know-all-the-PayPal-rules-and-am-right-and-you-are-not-and-can't-do-anything-about-it tone. I wish that I had recorded my nightmare conversations with PayPal the way that you had. I have $1500 floating around in PayPal's purgatory right now. More power to you!

Great job, Mark. Loved it entirely. Paypals' robots don't handle logic very well. Hope more people do this (and that those with skills use audio editing to clip their name or other identifying info if that's what's stopping them from considering doing it).

Excellent analysis of applicable law, and how laws state to state might have different impact. Mainly, however, I like your common sense analysis (which trumps legalistic nonsense almost every day of week), when it comes to the permission apparently granted by the paypal system. Very very cool. LOVE the fact that paypal's idiocy and direct words "may be recorded" are being used for BOTH party's benefit and rather than the 800 pound gorilla.

With enough recorded calls, maybe there can be the "paypal black comedy hour."

Thank you for getting the tape out there for those who don't understand (no matter how many times they think they've been told it by others) what paypal can and does actually do.

<Ringo>,

Yeah, but when they damaged me and my startup company, you can bet that I want compensation for the conversion of my funds.

I can't stomach PayPal either, but I have learned to live with it, since, in spite of its callous attitude, hidden phone numbers, and a multitude of other slaps to the face, it makes me plenty of money! Isn't MONEY the bottom line when it comes to PayPal? Making money is the name of this game. For me, and for PayPal. Thanks to PayPal, I can instantly cash in on the impulse buys of drunken Ebay surfers all over the planet. Their money is already on the way to my bank account by the time that they wake up in the morning and realize that they just blew their whole paycheck on whatever it was that I was selling. Mind you - I did not rip them off or scam them in any way; I only sell quality items for whatever the market will bear. So they got their money's worth. However it is not my fault if they couldn't afford the purchase; if they maxed out their credit card to buy my stuff or cleaned out their checking account with a debit card. If it was not for PayPal, I would miss out on probably 99 percent of those Saturday night impulse buys. Thanks PayPal! You inconsiderate corporate behemoth, you big fat cash COW! I love/hate you!
So to all of you here who spend so much time and energy in the pursuit of NOT making money, you are really barking up the wrong tree. You don't have to like PayPal. I have gone up against their "customer service" a couple of times, but those were back in the beginning and quickly realized that the best relationship to have with PayPal was one of simply collecting the cash and not begrudging them their 3 percent. Merchants have always paid points on credit card tranactions, but the sheer number of impulse buys that would hev been missed otherwise more than make up for it. Not to mention the fact that I factor the three percent into my prices anyway. I am not losing any money! I am making more than ever, thanks to PayPal. I love you, PayPal. AND I HATE your guts too!

To the rest of you who are posting here - do whatver you feel that you have to do. But don't pull this post - it is not intended to be abusive, vulgar, attacking, or an antagonistic message. I am not trying to make anybody mad. But seriously - ther are a lot of problems in this world. For some of you to get so mad a a company who, for the most part, makes it very easy for you to rake the dollars in - you're all shooting yourselves in the foot. You don't have to like them. I don't.

....Ive lost alot of money and people think i stold money from them and i didnt it is in paypal. any suggestions ?
First be up front with all those customers who think u nicked their ducats. Send them a print-out of your PP web page where it says your acct is frozen and u cannot send money. It is frozen - what r u risking sending this info out? :)

If your money is sitting in your frozen PP acct u will get it in 180 days.

If u really think u have a case, file a case with your local Small Claims Court against PP. Expect to be able to documentally prove what amount of your money PP is holding and what additional damage this has done to your finances. The funny thing is - I HAVE YET HAVE TO HEAR about a case when someone wud take PP to a Small Claims Court and wud lose his case! :) It sounds like u win automatically against PP :)
