AntiPayPalChrist,
Hi,
Before I continue I want to say I have seen the rude responses by readers to anyone who defends paypal. These reponses claim that only scammers or paypal employees would have any reason to defend paypal. I am a business man and know that that is not even close to factual. There is such a thing as client loyalty to companies that treat them well. I'm not going to just spout rhetoric here either. If you would like to check out the validity of my claim to be an actual paypal client check out one of my paypal enabled sites. http://www.2fastnet.com Heck, who knows perhaps you will decide you are paying too much for your internet service and give us a try.

Now on to the meat of my reply?

I have been using PayPal for transactions dealing with My Nationwide Dialup internet service for a couple of years now. I Stumbled on this page and began reading. I was amazed to see all the complaints about frozen accounts. What exactly do you mean by a frozen account? Have you actualy got over 12,000 dollars on account at paypal? Or have they somhow managed to freeze all the asests in your buisiness checking account?
What is the basis that paypal gives for such a freeze?

most of my customer transactions are 12.50 and i never allow my paypal account to accrue large balances. This doesnt make any sense to me because It makes sense that money my company makes should be earning intrest in my accounts not money for paypal.

I will say that my company has several paypal accounts. One for each of it's different ventures. In the couple of years that we have been using paypal we have had no major problems with paypal. We have had some inconveininces as a result of new users wanting to spend more than the limit for new users with thier credit card.

I also have a comment for those who complain about the fees. If you use a mechant account you have mre fees than just the transaction fees. While it is true that many merchant accounts will charge as little as 2.9% transaction fee and no per transaction fee, ther are monthly statment fees (19.99-50.00) and for internet sales you also have gateway fees (19.00-50.00) High volume sellers can get better discount rates (transaction fees) If you are selling a high enough volume a merchant account makes a lot of sense. Paypal was never really marketed to large hi volume business. Its target demographic is small business and private individuals who don't want the expense of a merchant acount.

One more quick thing. If you want to proccess credit cards and have your business name on the statment and are having dificulty aquiring a merchant account try propay.com

looks pretty bad to me, and worse your site still links to the ebay account that received the boot, think need to update it before you go trying to yank some chains for sympathy or to bish or whatever reason lol...

I wasn't going to post but after reading through all of this and seeing some of the claims I figure might as well...

I'm not one to say paypal is my friend but they have served well for my purposes easy to use and hell if ya don't like the fee's up the price a buck... They have become an ally of necessity I am not selling a product, or marketing a service, but i do plan a good party and have people send $ to support it and put all of it into the event, thus non profit in my book so I won't be looking into a merchants liscence and/or a tax ID any time soon... I had my permiere business account locked due to using the debit card to purchase gas "Pay at pump" and then later buying 14 kegs to guzzle down with a few hundred of my closest "friends" from a few various forums I run/own... The account was overdrawn $-0.13 once the gas purchase posted to the account, After receiving a 1/2 dozen

They decided to lock my account, and Just in time for me to start registration back up so I sent them an e-mail through their select category/subcategory crap to the point where i could actually type out a message to them

basically said:
Why would you shut down my account for $-0.13, my event is seasonal and I need my account to ba active no later than 12/1/02 or I will have to find another means. after $9910.71 worth of business conducted through you in a 6 month period, I am sure you have made more than plenty off of me and my event...

FOFFAD
Blank

I wish I had the actuall one i sent but it was pretty direct to the point telling them they were a bunch of greedy self serving pricks, but at the same time that i needed their services so I could put out for them again...

so they took care of it:

12/X/2002 8:36:31 PayPal Balance Adjustment PayPal Balance Adjustment Completed Crediting to cover charged off amount. 0.13 0 0.13 riskmanagement@x.com xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Unverified 0.13

overall they got: 339.99 in paypal service fee's (not counting the "cash back incentives" for using their card I wasn't going to search for them in the excell file to x them from the total)
for 9910.71 worth of incoming cash 9611.17 I got to spend on a big party... I'm not bitc#in'

now i have the huge balance of 5 bucks and 82 cents for them to freeze the checking account I haven't touched in about a year(if it still has any cash in it at all with the 8.00 a month fee)and the "credit card" was a debit for the account... id say I am in the clear for now, but next year I think I will have 3 times the business and I cannot have that happen to me...

I am not a big fan of them but hey I hate all insurance companies, banks, car dealerships, credit cards, lawyers AOL/Time-Warner, e-bay too, still use them even though they left me out to dry when I got ripped off for a 300$ clutch that I never receieved... too many to list, ban them all down with the system... Just wish I thought of it first.

so does the freezing of my account qualify as they can only do it once..? or should I seek alternate means to to next years event..? lol

what works :0Þ

JC

<Doug Kindy>, hey doug kindy, it's easy 2 C how you got scammed. already, you have posted your REAL NAME on an open internet forum. notice, that I (a network professional: dinosaur from the days of ARPAnet) have given only a handle to address me by, and a throwaway, ANONYMOUS e-mail address (not my real one) for replies. (get one at x-mail.net they will FWD too). [p] if i ran a search on your name, (BTW i manage networks for the government.. as in *.gov) i could probably come up with enough information to buy (or sell) a (your) home! don't be gullable! ALWAYS be suspicious! companies NEVER ask for passwords, or PIN numbers. THEY DON'T NEED THEM! As network administrator, for example, i have complete control over my users accounts. i need only know their personal information (name, etc), and where they need access to. i need this information ONCE, on a secure form, or on a land line. their password can be reset only by them physically contacting me (or my subordinates) directly, or through their immediate supervisor. but, i don't need their passwords, get it.[p]

anyone who would use their real (entire) name in this type of forum is going to be at risk. i can tell. SO CAN SCAMMERS. if you are NEW to the concept of networking, SEEK HELP from LEGIT sources BEFORE you consider conducting financial business using TCP/IP. get off the couch & go to the store until you are comfortable on the internet. NEVER, EVER give personal information over the internet especially e-mail. that's why paypal makes people FAX info over landlines to verify identity.[p]

it sounds to me like paypal is just using their client accounts to accrue interest. it is blatently obvious that all of these med-high dollar accounts get "frozen" for such an extended length of time.. some even "disappear"? what a ****in SCAM. SCREW paypal, they ain't yer PAL! your BANK is your PAL.. use them for everything!

[p]i have one separate credit card for internet buying. it MUST be verified BY ME for any purchaces over $500. it isn't much of a hassle & gives me piece of mind. call your CC representative. they WILL help you! hey, if a seller won't take my visa, (or MC, or AExp) phuck em, they ain't worth dealing with, and i didn't need that piece of someone elses junk they were unloading on e-bay that bad anyway.[p]

financially secure,[br]

 Paypal sucks

yes..i too had funds locked up in paypal but only $115 because i withdrew mine each day..the thing is paypal before they were sold to ebay used to target adult enterainers because NOBODY really needed to use a service like this but it worked good for adult businesses and the buyers for the main reason it could be hidden from wives, girlfriends, or nosey people. however with the new buy out so many of us have frozen accts that will be held for 6 months that is a long time and they do not warn you they just freeze the acct

i hope that everyone stops using paypal because they are crooks even if you have a family oriented type of business they can still freeze your acct. they froze my acct when i had plenty of money and i went to use my paypal credit/debit card and the man said my card was DECLINED that was so embarassign luckily i had cash because people can be so rude when your credit card is declined..but i knew i had money..i raced home to find out my acct was frozen until they got my home address and a home telephone number. well heck i don't like to give out all my info the address i had on there was good i had the acct for two years they had my bank acct info and so forth

they are crooks and i also heard stormpay.com sucks too they rip people off don't pay you when you request a check. most people i know are just asking buyers to send money orders or checks back to the old way of doing business

oh well

good luck yall

Shar

<>, The same thing happened with my account. I just opened up the account to pay for an ebay item. PayPal was more then happy to remove funds from my credit card immediately. They credited the seller, then stoppeed payment to the seller and then proceeded to hold the funds from my account until I was able to prove that this was my credit card being used. I proceeded to fax in t he required information and asked for someone to contact me. (of course i did not hear back from anyone!) If PayPal was unsure of my credit card, why did they take the money out of my credit card account and why have they been holding this money?

Mind you, when you try and call up the customer service and resolutions department, they cannot connect you with anyone who can solve this problem for you. What a shame this company is!!! Never again, will I ever attempt to go through PayPAl. I will tell everyone i know of my experiencve with PayPal and their incompetent staff and managers and customer service representatives.

OK, I have not been scammed from paypal, I am a major seller on ebay that uses Paypal, maybe yall get it because you have paypal credit cards. And I never respond to the emails they send. And when they tell you info when you log on, skip it. Thats all you got to do. And also, I think this has been started because there was a mistake with yall and you thought you got fraud and made this website, paypal sued you. Yall got more mad and kept up with the site. Paypal is reall good. So lay off them. And also, you should withdraw the money from paypal to your acount everyday so in 4 days your bank gets it. Its so simply idiots.

Everyone here is simply missing the big picture.

Paypal places a hold and freezes these accounts, and while the money is being held, just notice that it leaves your Paypal balance at zero. This is because your money is transferred into one of their \"Holding Accounts\" for a month or so. Imagine for a moment how many billions of dollars in internet transactions are \"frozen\" in a month\'s time, and how many millions of dollars worth of interest that will accumulate on all this money in a month\'s time in one of these \"holding accounts\".

They are making millions upon millions of dollars by utilizing this simple \"security measure\", and can get away with it.

I also speak through experience when I had my account flagged with over $8K in it. I went through the same, \"fax us this and fax us that\" crap. Only to be told that is was not suffice and they needed something else. Then once I sent what they asked for, my five day waiting period started over, until they needed something else, and the five days began again. It lasted for about a month and I was outraged.

But anyway, In their defense, after I had faxed them everything but a picture of my A$$, they finally lifted the hold. I have since then sent/received $100K\'s in transactions through Paypal and haven\'t had another problem.

It is simply a way for them to make millions of dollars through a partially legal loophole, and after that, I think everything is OK (Since they can\'t do it to the same person twice).

Furthermore, let me state that Ebay/PayPal now holds probably a 90% vertical monopoly on the online auction market. Even PayPal strongly encourages you to use their shipping accounts through UPS. First, Ebay charges you to list an item. Then Ebay charges you the final falue fee. Then when you send/receive the money, PayPal charges you. God forbid your buyer uses a credit card, racking up the charges even more. Then you are charged exorbitant shipping fees through UPS - USPS priority mail with tracking AND insurance is usually MUCH MUCH cheaper. They sucker you into the debit card which is very convinient, but the "cashback" is more like "fractions of cents which dont even come to within 1% of your fees back" is just a gimmick. I have always supported Ebay, however I am quickly losing respect due to the integrity, or lack thereof, that is upheld out there in California between these two "partners."
